Dr. Pauline McAvoy is an accredited Dialectical Behaviour Therapist working as a Clinical Lead for DBT within Bradford District Care Foundation Trust.

She became chartered as a Forensic Psychologist in 2000 and completed her Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology in 2012. She has over 20 years’ experience in the delivery of behaviour treatment programmes and has supervised staff from a range of backgrounds including Forensic and Clinical Psychologists (including those in training), nurses, probation officers, substance misuse practitioners and teachers in both group and individual settings to deliver adherent treatment.

Pauline completed DBT training in 2016 and set up a comprehensive DBT programme for adults in Community Mental Health Services in York & Selby. She led a team in developing a DBT online skills training package in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as part of Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. She subsequently took a post as DBT Clinical Lead in Bradford where she Is developing a “stepped-care” model of DBT interventions. She is working towards supervisor accreditation and offers supervision to individuals and consultation teams. She is an experienced trainer and has trained other Mental Health Practitioners in DBT as well as providing DBT input into a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Leeds. She began working with the British Isles DBT training team in 2020.
